The Dubai International Financial Centre Authority (DIFCA) has proposed the draft Intellectual Property laws such as Copyrights, Patents, Utility Certificates, Industrial Drawings and Designs Law, Trade Secrets, Trademarks for public to review and comments.
The proposed patent Law includes the grant of Utility Certificates apart from Patents which would be “A Utility Certificate is a right pursuant to the issuance of the deed of protection granted for an invention by the Administration of Industrial Property in the name of the UAE where such inventions does not involve an inventive step sufficient for the grant of deed of patent.” The second important point it includes the ownership of the intellectual Property between generated, between employee and employer (Article 5).
